LUBE-FREE CHAIN INFORMATION
The step chains are normally lubricated manually by our skilled service technicians at the regular service visit. As an alternative, we are able to offer lubrication-free step chains. As these do not require regular oil lubrication, down time due to routine maintenance is reduced and, as there is no accumulation of oil within the truss, internal truss cleaning requirements are minimal.

STEP COLOR INFORMATION
As standard, the steps are painted silver. This is a similar color to the die-cast aluminum, so the step maintains a good visual appearance, even as the paint wears or if it is scratched.

DEMARCATION INSERTS INFORMATION
To better enable passengers to determine where the step edges are, steps can be provided with demarcation lines cast into the front and rear edges of their tread. The following options are available:
Yellow or Black plastic inserts to the sides and rear edge of each step tread. These are inserts are superior to painted lines do to the increased durability. Another advantage is that worn plastic inserts are easily replaced.

APEX GUARDS INFORMATION
Under ANSI code, guards are required at the intersection between the escalator and the ceiling, and also at the truss intersection between escalators arranged in criss-cross layout.
Head guards can be supplied locally or ordered with the escalator. They are manufactured from clear Perspex (polycarbonate) and are available in left and right-handed versions. Criss-cross (60 degree) head guards are fitted by the KONE installation engineers during installation.

DECK GUARDS INFORMATION
Under ANSI code, appropriate measures must be taken to discourage people from climbing on the outside of the balustrades. The area where climbing is a problem is at the lower landing, typically at ground floor or basement levels. To help discourage this, deck guards are available.
Deck guards can be supplied locally or ordered with the escalator. ANSI deck guards are plastic, and they mount to the deck.
